In our interview on the go this week we catch up with Gillian McAllister, product and marketing manager at The Mortgage Lender (TML), over an early morning coffee and find out why she admires Aldi’s marketing and champagne is, very literally, life affirming.
Q. What is your proudest professional achievement to date?
Coming to work at The Mortgage Lender, I’m proud that they wanted to work with me again on something new and exciting.
Q. Why is it so important for TML and to you, to have a PR agency?
We’re a new brand in the market so need the expertise to manage our brand externally. Having a team which is 100 per cent focused on that part of it is important and not something I could do as part of my full-time role
Q. Which brand do you most admire for their marketing / creative / PR?
I really like Aldi because I think they play on their strengths, but do it in quite a classy way. I like brands that are a bit tongue in cheek and not too serious.
Q. Three words to describe you?
Loyal, driven and happy
Q. Three words to describe TML?
Can I have four please? Fun. exciting, ambitious, growing
Q. What’s your favourite tipple, when do you drink it and who first introduced you to it?
I do love a bit of Veuve Clicquot champagne and I don’t drink it as often as I should. It was introduced to me by my friend Siobhan after she’d had a double mastectomy, it was a Friday night and we were in our pyjamas. I don’t tend to drink very often, but when I do it gets messy.
